Structuring Teams and Processes in the Lead-to-Cash Ecosystem
This year, the Lead-to-Cash Bash is thrilled to announce our keynote session will be led by Lauren Farber, Head of Business Operations at Roku. Lauren has implemented successful operational change at some of the world's largest media brands including AOL, Conde Nast, Hulu, and the Walt Disney Company. In our keynote, Lauren will present models for structuring teams that drive successful Lead-to-Cash operations for advertising and media companies of all shapes and sizes.
Dave Kennedy, Chief Revenue Officer, Oahu Publications Inc.
David Kennedy is the Chief Revenue Officer for Oahu Publications Inc., Hawaii’s largest media company. OPI publishes a diverse group of print and digital publications including the flagship Honolulu Star-Advertiser on Oahu, the State’s newspaper currently ranked 11th in the nation for daily average circulation, as well as The Garden Island on Kauai, West Hawaii Today and the Hawaii Tribune Herald, both on Hawaii’s Big Island.
Kennedy helped launch a Magazine Division in 2007 that now publishes 22 titles including HILuxury Magazine as well as a collection of visitor and island lifestyle publications.
In addition to print and digital media, Kennedy also helped launch Oahu Media Group (OMG,) a full-service marketing communications agency in 2014. OMG is currently the 4th largest advertising agency in Hawaii.
In 2017, Kennedy launched the revolutionary Digital Billboard Network, an out-of-home/in-store video system with SiteView technology which captures demographic profiles and verified engagements. Currently, 300 screens are statewide with more than 6 million views.
In 2018, OPI won the Mega-Innovation Award for DBN.
In 2020, Kennedy launched a series of video podcasts, including the national award winning Spotlight, Star News Live and CO2 Rundown (sports) and was recently rewarded with a John P Murray Award of Excellence in Audience Development.
Kennedy was with Gannett newspapers from 1981 to 2001 in both Circulation and Advertising in the Reno, Olympia, Guam and Honolulu markets.

Aaron Kotarek is Senior Vice President - Audience & Operations at Oahu Publications, Inc. (OPI), headquartered in Honolulu, and the flagship operation of Black Press Media. Aaron is responsible for publishing, commercial print, direct mail & manufacturing operations, information technology & compliance, audience development, consumer revenue enhancement, digital platform engagement and supply chain logistics/procurement for the media company’s entire product portfolio.
Prior to arriving in Honolulu, Aaron was Vice President of Audience Development at McClatchy’s Herald-Leader Media operation based in Lexington, Kentucky.
Mr. Kotarek has also held various executive leadership positions within several large media chains including Thomson, A.H. Belo, Cox Enterprises, Morris Communications, and Dow Jones Local Media Group. While at Thomson Newspapers, Aaron was twice awarded the prestigious President’s Award for Marketing Excellence by then Thomson President & CEO Stuart Garner.
Aaron received special recognition from the Inland Press Association when he was named to their prestigious “Top 18 Media Executives to Watch in 2018” list. In 2019, he was inducted into the ranks of Honorary Lifetime Members of the Cal-Western Circulation Manager’s Association (CWCMA). In August of this year, Aaron was named one of “North America’s Top 25 Media Executives Over the Age of 50” by Editor & Publisher magazine. This September, Aaron was bestowed with Marian University’s “2022 Distinguished Alumni Award” for outstanding achievements in his chosen profession.
Kotarek is regularly a featured speaker at industry summits nationwide on topics ranging from consumer subscription revenue growth, audience extension, digital engagement strategies, cash discount programs, and business transformation. He is a self-proclaimed brand ambassador for the print & digital publishing and digital-out-of-home industries.
